Katharine Towne (born July 17, 1978 in Hollywood, California) is an American actress. She is the daughter of Julie Payne, an actress, and Robert Towne, an Oscar-winning screenwriter.
Towne's career began with a small role in the 1998 movie Girl, a romantic drama starring Dominique Swain and Sean Patrick Flanery. The following year she appeared in the feature films Go, She's All That, But I'm a Cheerleader and The Bachelor, and guest-starred as Sunday on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In
2000 she starred as Riley Veatch on the short-lived sitcom
M.Y.O.B., alongside future
Gilmore Girls star
Lauren Graham. Since then she has appeared in a number of feature films, including
The In Crowd,
What Lies Beneath,
Town & Country,
Mulholland Dr. and
Evolution. She will next be seen alongside
Michael Weston in the film drama
Looking for Sunday, and on the upcoming
television series Tell Me You Love Me, due in 2007.
Towne was married to fellow actor Charlie Hunnam between 1999 and 2002. The pair met whilst auditioning for Dawson's Creek. They were married after knowing each other only three weeks.
