Iben Hjejle (b. March 22, 1971 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish actress, notable for appearing in the Danish television sitcom Langt fra Las Vegas (Far from Las Vegas), and playing the girlfriend of famous Danish comedian Casper Christensen, while also being his girlfriend in real life. She is also playing Christensen's girlfriend in the sitcom Klovn (Clown).
She has further starred in a series of Danish movies, including a Dogme movie, and also in Danish-produced action movies, such as Gamle mænd i nye biler (Old men in new cars). She also played the part as the Swedish Queen Sofia Magdalena in SVT's success period drama production of Gustav III:s äktenskap (The Marriage of Gustav III) in 2001.
Best known to English-speaking audiences from her performance in
High Fidelity (2000). She has also appeared in the 1997 film
Portland, in
Mifune's Last Song in 2000,
The Emperor's New Clothes in 2002, and in
Dreaming of Julia and
Flickering Lights in 2003.
Iben Hjejle is currently appearing on Danish television in the popular TV series Anna Pihl (2006-). She also has a part in Lars von Trier's 2006 Danish-language film Direktøren for det hele (aka The Boss of It All).
Was in 1996-1999 married to Emil de Waal. Since 2002 she is living with Danish comedian Casper Christensen.
Has a son; William (with de Waal).
