CareerDance, Choreography and Music Tour DirectionWade Robson's career commenced at age four appearing on the TV talent show "New Faces" hosted by Bert Newton when he performed a dance routine of the Michael Jackson hit Smooth Criminal complete with the outfit as depicted in the video of the hit song. When Michael Jackson toured Australia for the Bad tour in 1987, Robson grabbed the superstar's attention with his mesmerising dance routines and equally dazzling miniature outfits worn by the superstar in his videos. By the time he was nine, Robson had appeared in three of Michael Jackson's music videos: "Black or White", "Jam" and "Heal the World". In addition, he was in the rap group Quo which was on Jackson's label. In 2005 he testified in defense of Michael Jackson during Jackson's trial on charges of child molestation, after earlier a witness had claimed that Robson was molested by Michael Jackson. Robson had publicly denied this allegation as early as November 2003, despite strong public belief to the contrary. [1]
Robson co-directed Spears' 1999-2000 World Tours before becoming choreographer and codirector of 'N Sync's "No Strings Attached" tour in 2001 and then director of their "Pop Odyssey" tour in 2001. He then directed Spears' "Dream Within A Dream" tour in 2001-02 - during which an alleged affair between him and Spears brought his career as a pop tour director to an end. Other artists Robson has worked with as choreographer or video producer include Ginuwine, Mýa, and Mandy Moore. Robson continues to work as a music producer and choreographer and dance instructor, as well as serving as master choreographer and teacher for Tremaine Dance Convention and Competition.
SongwritingRobson and 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake proved a formidable writing partnership in 2001, co-writing the hit singles Pop and Gone and a third song See Right Through You on 'N Sync's album Celebrity. They also co-wrote Britney Spears' What It's Like To Be Me which she performed as a duet with then boy-friend Timberlake on her album Britney, copyright being held jointly by Robson and Timberlake's respective companies WaJeRo Sound and Tennman Tunes. In his album notes in Celebrity, Timberlake said of Robson "Never in my life have I clicked with someone creatively like I do with you. I hope I inspire people like you have inspired me." He also co-wrote the song Movin' On for the Backstreet Boys album Never Gone, with Backstreet member Howie Dorough, which was released as a bonus track. ActingIn 1999, Wade Robson appeared in a series of Jack in the Box commercials as "TJ", one of the Meaty Cheesy Boys, a spoof of boy bands of the late 1990s. He had a role as a children's traveling choir member in a Full House episode, and also had roles in the 1996 Shaquille O'Neal film Kazaam and 1999's EdTV. Wade appeared as himself in the 2004 urban dance film You Got Served. Film and TV ProductionRobson is the creator and host of MTV's Wade Robson Project. He choreographed two group number and several partner pieces on the second season of "So You Think You Can Dance" Personal lifeWade's involvement with Michael Jackson was widely rumored to be behind the divorce of his parents. His father never recovered from the loss and the emotional turmoil. He committed suicide years later. Robson was heavily rumored to be the cause of the breakup between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake early in 2002, and the subject of the latter's Cry me a River.
