Synopsis
Torok, a troll who was formerly the husband of a witch named Eunice St. Clair, seeks revenge on the residents of the apartment building she lives in. First, he takes possession of a girl named Wendy Potter, and his evil motives are suspected by her brother, Harry Potter Jr. (often confused with a similar character in the popular Harry Potter book/movie series) played by Noah Hathaway. After he possesses her, he goes into each occupant's apartment and turns every one of its residents into plant pods by using his magic emerald ring. One of the residents, interestingly enough, is named Peter Dickerson (Sonny Bono), named after the author of The Flight of Dragons.
Cast
- This film features an appearance from a young Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
- Jenny Beck received a Young Artist Award nomination for Exceptional Performance by a Young Actress, Supporting Role in a Feature Film - Comedy, Fantasy or Drama in 1987 for her role in Troll.
Controversy
Since this 1986 movie is about a "Harry Potter" about the same age as Rowling's Potter, discovers magic, and fights a troll, many say that the concept of a magical Harry Potter is in the public domain and is not controlled by Rowling. Rowling disagrees.
