The events that unfold in the film are the result of the apparent suicide of the son of a United States Senator at the hotel. His father commissions an FBI agent (Mel Gibson) to look into his death.
The movie received moderate success and a mixed critical reception. Gibson said in a later interview that this was "boring as a dog's ass." He had little time to develop his character before filming started. Soundtrack
The film's soundtrack was executive produced by Bono and released in March 2000. It features new music from U2 and various other collaborators. Track listing
The lyrics to "The Ground Beneath Her Feet" were written by Salman Rushdie for the book of the same name (1999). The track features Daniel Lanois on pedal steel guitar. The soundtrack version is a different mix from the one used in the film, which was not released.
"Satellite of Love" was written by Lou Reed. "Anarchy in the USA" is a Spanish cover of the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the U.K.". Personnel
