Teen pop or Swedish pop is a Western genre of music which is marketed to preteens and teenagers . Max Martin and Jay Orpin are pioneers of this genre of music.

Characteristics Teen pop in the 21st century could be in a form of garage band , emo , rap music , or it could be music made by manufactured boy bands -girl groups /pop princesses . Most teen pop in the 2000s has a mid/late '90s alternative pop rock-influenced sound (aka Third Eye Blind , Matchbox 20 , New Radicals , Vertical Horizon , Blessid Union of Souls , Third Day , Stone Sour etc.) to it and it has a very light and dancy feel. Some teen pop might cross over into the genre of Christian rock or Contemporary Christian Music , especially with such artists as Aly & AJ .
