So Real is the first music album to be released by Mandy Moore through Sony 550 Music. It was released in 1999 when Moore was fifteen years old. The album was certified platinum in the United States. On MTV's TRL, Moore said that she would repay the buyers of this album if she had the money because she felt it sounded "so bad".

In 2006, when promoting her film American Dreamz, Moore went true to her word while on a radio station, a fan had asked for his money back. Moore happily agreed and asked her manager to send a letter and a refund of $8.^[1]
