The seabed (also sea floor, seafloor, or ocean floor) is the bottom of the ocean. Seabeds are often home to a wealth of oceanic life, including fish, crustaceans, and seaweed. Coral reefs can also be found in shallower parts of the seabed. The seabed starts with the land or sediment which ends with the biginning of the water. Where the water begins the continental shelf begins also. The continental shelf recedes into the continental slope. At the bottom of the continental slopei the continental rise which is caused by sediment cascading down the continental slope.The seabed has been explored by submersibles such as Alvin and to some extent scuba divers with special apparatise.
