Scott Coffey (b. May 1, 1967, in Hawaii) is an American actor, director, and writer. His acting credits include films such as Shag, Some Kind of Wonderful, Dream Lover, and Mulholland Drive. He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his work in Shag.
Coffey currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Early Career
Scott Coffey,was born and raised in Hawaii, where he began his acting career appearing in school plays,
community theatre and with the Hawaii Performing Arts Company. He also appeared in several episodic television shows. At sixteen, with the money he had earned acting, he travelled to
Europe. Inspired by
Bertolucci's
La Luna, he felt compelled to visit
Rome along with
Paris and
Budapest. He stayed three years, attending high school in Rome and acting in seven films, including
Once Upon a Time in America, and the
CBS miniseries Christopher Columbus. While on location for
Christopher Columbus, Coffey was contacted by the
William Morris Agency and moved to New York, where he signed with the agency and studied acting while co-starring in the
off-Broadway play
It's All Talk. After a year he moved to
Los Angeles to pursue his film career and has been working ever since, appearing in
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Some Kind of Wonderful, SpaceCamp and
Girls Just Want to Have Fun. His television work includes a special
Twilight Zone entitled
Private Channel and an
Amazing Stories (TV series) hour special directed by
Robert Zemeckis.
Ellie Parker
Coffey's feature film, Ellie Parker (2005), which finished production in July of 2005, was an Official Selection of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and won the New American Cinema Special Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival. He wrote the film based on the short story, All God's Children Can Dance by Haruki Murakami.
Personal life
Coffey lives his life as an openly gay man in
Hollywood, California. He counts
Naomi Watts,
David Lynch and
Keanu Reeves as close friends.
