Pimp C (born Chad Butler on December 29, 1973 in Port Arthur, Texas) is a southern rapper better known as one-half of southern hip hop group UGK.
Musical careerUGK, which also includes Bun B, is a successful rap group from the Southern U.S. especially during the early to mid 1990's and also made prominent guest appearances on hit singles by Jay-Z ("Big Pimpin'", 2000) and Three 6 Mafia ("Sippin' On Some Syrup", 2000) and was to work with Celly Cel, C-Bo, Spice 1 and Devin the Dude on a couple of projects. He is the co-owner of Trill Entertainment along with bandmate Bun B.
Pimp C was released on Friday, December 30, 2005 from the Terrell Prison Unit in Livingston, Texas after serving about half of his eight-year sentence. He will be on parole until December of 2009. [2] Pimp C was treated for minor injuries on April 18, 2006, after he was involved in a car accident while leaving the video shoot for his single "Pourin' Up." [3] A Port Arthur Police officer that was escorting the rappers responded to gunfire and pursued the shooters. As the suspects fled through local neighborhoods on a flat tire, they crossed over Gulf Way Drive, ran a red light and struck Pimp C's Bentley at high speed. He was treated for minor injuries and released. A Rap-A-Lot security guard spent some time in the hospital before making a full recovery. Pimp C stated that he would be releasing an album alongside rapper Too $hort, during his appearance on the show "Sucker Free on MTV."
