Lovewrecked

Lovewrecked was originally a feature length film that, when the rights were sold, became a television movie that was released in 2007 (even though it sat on the shelf for two years), however after many different attempts at theatrical distribution in the U.S., The Weinstein Company, who obtained the rights from Media 8 sold the TV rights to the ABC Family Channel and debuted on January 21, 2007 at 8/7c. It is an adventurous romantic comedy about a girl getting stranded on a beach in the Caribbean with a rock idol.

Plot outline

Jenny Taylor (Amanda Bynes) is ecstatic when she finds out that her favorite rock star, Jason Masters (Chris Carmack), is a guest at the resort where she is working for the summer.

Jenny and Jason both get thrown off a cruise ship and marooned on a desert island while cruising on a ship one night after a thunderstorm. Delirious about having him all to herself, Jenny hides the fact that they are just a stone's throw away from the resort.

But when Jenny's rival, Alexis Mennetti (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) pretends to be shipwrecked as well and Jenny's plan starts to blow up in her face, it is up to her lifelong friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett) to pick up the pieces.

Detailed Plot

Opening Sequence-

The movie starts out with a small showing of all of Jenny's(played by Amanda Bynes) Jason Master stuff with the opening credits over them, Including autographs, cds, and more. It then cute to a wild crowd at one of Jason's performances. Jenny is yelling and jumping her heart out, while her best friend, Ryan, (played by Jonathan Bennett,) is just standing, annoyed by Jason. Since Jenny wants to be able to touch Jason, she hitches a ride on the crowd, but just when she is about to reach Jason, her arch nemesis, Alexis, (played by Jamie Lynn Sigler), pulls her down and takes her spot on the crowd. Alexis makes it to Jason, only to be taken off stage by security guards. Jenny stands up and makes an annoyed look, which then the scene dissolves into a shot of Jenny's home.

International Title/Releases

Temptation Island was the distribution title for Lovewrecked when it was released in different countries over the 2005 and 2005 year period. Originally, when Media 8 was to distribute the film, North America was supposed to see the film in theaters before any other country. After selling the North American distribution rights to The Weinstein Company, Media 8 Entertainment hoped it could take care of the project. But since the Weinstein Co. had just started it's own company, it did not have enough money and partnership with other companies to fully release Lovewrecked. It also was situated over other films. After 2 years of trouble, The Weinstein Company sold the TV rights to the ABC Family Network in 2007, thus making North America the very last country to see Lovewrecked.

Ratings/Film Versions

• 2005 Theatrical Rating- PG-13 for Sexuality.
• 2006: Re-Rating- PG for sensuality, crude humor and language.

There are a few deleted scenes on the DVD(see below). They are not true deleted scenes, but edited scenes from the PG-13 version of the film, cut in order to achieve a PG rating(see above).

The movie was shortened because Randal Kleiser, the official director, wanted to target more family audiences than teenager audiences.

Trivia

• Directed by Randal Kleiser and written by Stephen Langford.

• It was filmed in the Dominican Republic, in Cabrera, Puerto Plata, and at Ocean World and the Sun Village Beach Resort Cofresi.

• It started filming in June 2004 and wrapped in August 2004.

• A Director's Cut was premiered in 2005 at the Dominican Republic International Film Festival held in Cofresi Beach where the film was shot.

• Leonardo Cuesta, who plays the role of Gail, Jason's Bodyguard is an ex member of the elite Cuban Men's National Basketball Team and an ex Professional Basketball Player.

• All of the film's producer's and few of the crew have cameo roles in the film. Executive Producer Kelli Konop plays the mom to a little girl who throws up.

The Region 1 DVD was released on March 13, 2007 and now all regions are available on DVD at Amazon, and stores worldwide. [1]

Sequel

Lovewrecked 2 is an undecided film sequel to Lovewrecked.

On a film review, Amanda Bynes said she had a lot of fun doing the film, and would like to see a sequel made. She would also enjoy reprising her role as Jenny.
