"Drop the Pilot" is a song written by Joan Armatrading. It was first released on Armatrading's 1983 album The Key. Later that year, it was released as a single. It proved one of Armatrading's biggest commercial successes, continuing her string of hits on the UK Singles Chart and also charting on the Billboard Hot 100. It spurred sales of its parent album.

Mandy Moore version

A version of the song by Mandy Moore, included as a track on her album Coverage, saw limited release as that album's second single in Brazil and The Philippines. It peaked at number thirteen on the national charts of the latter country.
