Antipop is an album by Primus, released on October 19, 1999. The title comes from an apparent dislike of disposable pop music.
Stylistically it evokes early Primus records in its metal influence, like their 1990 studio debut Frizzle Fry; this time around, however, the metal revolved less around thrash and more around nu metal, with its heavy guitar attacks and somewhat simplistic style. This may be an influence from touring with bands such as Limp Bizkit and Korn, who themselves claim to be influenced by Primus. The album features several well-known guest musicians and producers, including James Hetfield of Metallica, Jim Martin of Faith No More, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. There is also a hidden track on this album, 5 minutes after the last track. It is a studio version of "The Heckler", a song that was previously only performed live. This inclusion now means that all the tracks from their live debut Suck on This have now been released as studio recordings. Credits
