Alvan Leigh Adams (b. July 19 , 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas ) is a former professional basketball player. After starring at the University of Oklahoma , the 6'9" (2.06 m) forward/center was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 4th pick of the 1975 NBA Draft . Adams, who won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 1976 and led the Suns to an improbable season that landed them in the NBA Finals , was named to the NBA All-Star Game that season, and was also a member of the All-NBA Rookie Team. Adams spent his entire career with the Suns and retired in 1988 with 13,910 career points.
