The video won multiple awards, including an MTV music video award for Breakthrough Video and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video (it lost to Korn's "Freak on a Leash"). It is on permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and is widely considered the standard in CGI effects. The song itself was also critically acclaimed, winning numerous awards.
In the beginning of the video, which runs backwards, a robotic Björk lies on a white platform in the centre of a sterile room and is being torn apart by two mechanical instruments. Later on in the video, two Björk robots kiss passionately as machines work on disassembling electronics in their backs.
