1. Ishtar [VHS]
starring: Warren Beatty, Dustin Hoffman, Isabelle Adjani, Charles Grodin, Jack Weston
directed by: Elaine May

Customer Review:
This movie got a bad rap when it first appeared. But it is in fact a delightfully witty satire on middle-Eastern foreign affairs bearing the irresistible comedic stamp of the incomparable Elaine May. Beatty ... Read More

2. Camille Claudel [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Gérard Depardieu, Laurent Grévill, Alain Cuny, Madeleine Robinson
directed by: Bruno Nuytten

Customer Review:
I was just amazed and impressed with the director's attempt to convey the method of creation for a sculpture. I do not think he was successful other than letting me know it is extremely messy, models must always be freezing, ... Read More

3. Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) [VHS]
starring: Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani, Bruno Ganz, Roland Topor, Walter Ladengast
directed by: Werner Herzog

Customer Review:
"NOSFERATU" (1922) (1979)

See the extraodinary original and then the brilliant remake.

Filmmaker F.W. Marnau's "Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie Des Grauens" (1922) is the first in a long line of vampire films. Marnau ... Read More

4. Possession (Ws Clam) [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neill, Margit Carstensen, Heinz Bennent, Johanna Hofer
directed by: Andrzej Zulawski

Customer Review:
I could honestly say that this is movie is the best movie I have ever seen, but that's been said already. What I would like to add is that it's not entirely about the divorce or political problems the directer was going through at the time, it is ... Read More

5. One Deadly Summer (L'ete Meurtrier) [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Alain Souchon, Suzanne Flon, Jenny Clève, Maria Machado
directed by: Jean Becker

Customer Review:
A sultry summer tale of revenge, violence, desire, sexuality and deception, this psychological thriller is gripping throughout. Shown from two different viewpoints and with the aid of flashbacks, it's long (2 1/4 hrs.) and fairly hard-to-follow upon first viewing ... Read More

6. Quartet [VHS]
starring: Alan Bates, Maggie Smith, Isabelle Adjani, Anthony Higgins, Pierre Clémenti
directed by: James Ivory

Customer Review:
When one sees the production/direction team of Merchant & Ivory, there comes with that name a level of sophistication, or one could say an air of dedication. This team is notorious for creating detailed cinema focused inward, toward our characters, instead of outside influences. ... Read More

7. The Story of Adele H. [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Joseph Blatchley, Louise Bourdet, Geoffroy Crook, Cecil De Sausmarez

Customer Review:
Adèle H, the daughter of French writer Victor Hugo, wrote in her journals that she would walk across the ocean to be with the lover who rejected her. François Truffaut's Story of Adele H chronicles that journey.

One of the founders of the French New Wave film genre, Truffaut ... Read More

8. Bon Voyage (2003) (Sub Dol Slip) [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Gérard Depardieu, Virginie Ledoyen, Yvan Attal, Grégori Derangère
directed by: Jean-Paul Rappeneau

Customer Review:
Some slapstick comedy as the Nazis prepare to conquer France in 1940? Yep, but it's all a bit forced, with the usual litany of madcap mistaken motivations. It's clouded by some nonsense about a scientist who has discovered "heavy water" which could be made into atomic bombs if the Nazis get it. The several ... Read More

9. The Tenant [VHS]
starring: Melvyn Douglas, Isabelle Adjani, Jo Van Fleet, Shelley Winters, Bernard Fresson
directed by: Roman Polansky

Customer Review:
Excellent psychological thriller and interesting look at Roman Polanski's early work in the trilogy of psychological thrillers. Films of this caliber are very rare anymore. I enjoyed this film very much and recommend it highly.

10. Queen Margot [VHS]
starring: Isabelle Adjani, Daniel Auteuil, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Vincent Perez, Virna Lisi
directed by: Patrice Chéreau

Customer Review:
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Great cinematography, excellent actors, a lot of realism, and historically based. It's not an American movie, so don't expect a pretty end. That is what I like about many foreign movies though, they are a lot less boringly predictable than American movies.
