- June - Shah Alam is established as a planned cities.
- July - Zoo Negara, Malaysia's national zoo is officially opened.
- 16 July - Stadium Negara, Malaysia's first indoor stadium is officially opened.
- 27 July - The Malaysia-Indonesia confrontation had began. The war breaks out.
- 16 September – Federation of Malaysia formed through the merging of the Federation of Malaya and the British crown colony of Singapore, North Borneo (renamed Sabah) and Sarawak.
