Victor Electronic Rat Trap

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Trap That Gets Results
We had mice working out in our attic. We could hear the pitty patter of mice feet running back and forth on the ceiling. I purchased the Victor Electronic Rat Trap at Home Depot. I caught a mouse a night for three nights. Now the attic is silent.

I did have the problem that the trap started alerting like a rat or mouse was in it, althought none was. Online I read that you should only use a small amount of peanut butter for bait. Otherwise, extra peanut butter can get between the metal plates, which makes the trap signal like a rodent has been killed and is in the trap. Anything that touches two of the plates at once causes that problem. I called customer support, and cleaned the trap as they suggested, but to no avail. I took the trap back to Home Depot, and exchanged it. Now the new one is working fine.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Really wanted it to work
I really wanted a clean rat trap. Something I could just tip over and the rat falls into the garbage. To bad it never caught the little bugger. I tried this for over a week, first baiting it to draw the rat in, and then with it on to get him. The rat came and went, ate the bait and may have gotten shocked, but walked away. After several nights of this I decided to use the good 'ol wooden rat snap trap. 3 hours after I set the snap trap I heard it go off and it effectivly got the rat. So I returned to the electric trap and bought more snap traps. The snap trap was only $2 and worked better when compared to the $40 electronic trap. Again I really wanted the electronic trap to work and it might work for some, just not me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The "Tunnel of Doom"
We have never had rats before. They came into the garage after a nearby dairy was closed. We tried different kinds of traps--the sticky ones, the snap traps, etc.--but they didn't work very well. The rats (they're the brown kind)kept dragging them off or getting out of them. We were getting desperate...until we got this product. It worked GREAT!! The batteries didn't last quite as long as they said, but no matter. It probably depends on how big the rat is as to how much battery it uses. We caught all the rats in a few days. Disposal is a snap--just pour into a baggie and voila! We will keep it ready at all times from now on, just in case...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The rats are GONE!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!! I used this in my hen house, and killed close to 40 mice quickly. They die quickly, and there is no mess to deal with. You simply dump them out, put a little more peanut butter in the back hole with a small stick, and turn it on again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - As efficient as it gets!
I've tried them all- poison is effective but a decaying rat in the garage is something I can't deal with. I've tried snap traps and have never actually caught one. Glue traps have disappeared overnight (I'm sure they have been dragged off). The rats had started to chew on insulation under my truck in the garage and I knew enough was enough.

I heard of this electronic trap on the History Channel and decided to give it a try. Even though it was a little pricey, I had to do something different. Other methods weren't doing the trick.

On the first night, I caught my first rat. I didn't have to look at the remains and simply emptied it into the trash. I set it again and the bait disappeared overnight. This went on for a week and thought something was wrong with the unit. The bait was gone with no dead rat. I read a reviewer who had a similar problem and put a small piece of bread on the inside of the trap against the back wall. Without exaggeration, I had that rat within a half hour. I will never use another trap.
