New York City Ballet: The Complete Workout, Vol. 1 and 2

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good stretching workout
I have no dancing background at all, but have done many exercise videos over the years. I am not bored yet with disc1, so haven't tried 2 yet. After doing this dvd about 10 times I can get thru segment 10 or 11 pretty well (of 17) and my flexibility has improved, even over my previous yoga experience.

There are 2 flaws that kept it from getting 5 stars:
(1) the prompting is inconsistent as far as whether you're doing left or right in several places, and the camera angle will sometimes shift to another view which is the opposite leg when you shouldn't have shifted yet.
(2) they force you to watch the 5 min intro every time, or to pick individual pieces one at a time.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Ballet
I took about 9 years of ballet up until my sophmore year of high school.. I am now a freshman in college and i decided to get this workout to regain some of my flexibility as well as tone up my legs again. I havent been completely faithful to it because the video is kinda long and I dont have much time. When you are able to work with it, it really does wonders!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great DVD. I love the interviews!
I am a beginner, although I have had Karate, so have some related training. I am still on the Disk 1, warm-up (part 1), but you can play each section as many times as you need and not go on until you are ready. The video is so beautiful it inspires me to keep working. I love, love, love the interviews which give the "day in the life of" each of the 4 (2 men, 2 woman) ballerina's. The interviews show the dedication behind the scene, but also tell the story of four very different lives, from the young to the mother ballerina. It shows them on the streets of New York, where they are eating, streatching, working out and what else they like in there lives. I which there was more. I like watching it while I streatch.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Workout 1 - Not for ballet beginners
This is probably a great video for those with ballet training. I am not familiar with the different ballet positions and had a very frustrating time trying to follow the nearly non-existant cues. I have read other reviews that speak favorably of Workout 2 but was so disappointed in Workout 1 that I have not tried it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Ballet for all
Good for stretching and toning. The exercises are slow and easy to follow for anyone who has experience in ballet or not. I also like that the exercises are broken down into segments; so you have time to recoup and begin the next set.
