Editorial Review:
Product Description: Two very dimwitted guys make a cross-country road trip to return a large sum of cash to its owner. Along the way they encounter police, kidnappers, & assorted others. Genre: Feature Film-Comedy Rating: PG13 Release Date: 14-SEP-2004 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com: Delivering exactly what its title promises, this celebration of stupidity was Jim Carrey's 1994 follow-up to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. The film pairs the rubber- faced wacky man with Jeff Daniels as the not-so-dynamic duo of Lloyd and Harry, dunderheads who come into the possession of a briefcase containing ransom money that is intended for Mob-connected kidnappers. Lauren Holly costars as the woman who lost the briefcase, and with whom Carrey falls in love (both in real life and as his moronic on-screen character). As Lloyd and Harry make a mad dash to return the briefcase (never aware of its contents), the bumbling buddies attract Mobsters, cops, and trouble galore. This lowbrow laugh-a-thon scores some solid hits for hilarity, but with gags involving ill-fated parakeets, buxom bimbos, and an overdose of laxatives, be prepared to put your brain--and good taste--on hold. --Jeff Shannon
Why in the world would the producers soil such a genius comedic gem with these worthless, unfunny and disgusting "bonus scenes?" I got this for Christmas last year along with my fancy new Blu-ray player, yet was so utterly disappointed that there wasn't even a "theatrical version" available to play, instead having to suffer through the trash they stuck in for no apparent reason.
"Colin's" one-star review sums it up very well. Read it and see why you should stay far, far away from the unrated Blu-ray version of Dumb & Dumber.

I want to first acknowledge that Dumb & Dumber is in my top 5 comedies of all-time. I love this movie so much, and have watched it two dozen times. BUT, I am not a fan of the unrated version of the movie. Why? The main reason is I don't like the fact that most of the new scenes insinuate that Lloyd is a homosexual. Not that I am homophobic, it is just it takes away from the comedy of the movie. It warps it enough that its uncomfortable. Some may like the homosexual themed scenes, but again I don't. Other than that the movie is great.

I was extemely disappointed with "Dumb and Dumber Unrated Edition," Blu-Ray. This DVD has a horrible menu, less than average transfer, and worst of all, embarrassingly stupid "bonus" scenes that I feel ruined one of my favorite comedies. I ended up selling it because I was ashamed to have it in my personal blu-ray collection. Wait for the original release. Don't waste your money on this movie!
